We only work with highly qualified Spanish translators
Our translators are graduate certified translators or so-called specialised translators, i.e. translators who, in addition to sound language skills, also have a thorough knowledge of the specialist area they translate in, be it technology, law, medicine or finance. Of course, they are fluent in the source language but have the target language as their native tongue, which means that if you order a certified translation into Spanish, the translation will be done by a translator whose native language is Spanish.
Certified translation into and from Spanish
We provide certified translations from Spanish into English and English into Spanish. The translators we use are either certified by the Kammarkollegiet in Sweden or by the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Texts and documents that have to be translated by a certified translator are typically documents such as annual accounts, court rulings, registration documents, school certificates, marriage certificates, as well as other financial and legal documents.
Must a certified translation into Spanish be stamped by a Notary Public?
When you order a certified translation into Spanish with us, it is usually done by a translator certified by the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which means that it should usually be apostilled by a Notary Public. The Notary Public attests that the translator is certified.
An EU regulation from 2016 permits translations to be exempt from having to be legalised or apostilled when they concern public documents and certified copies of such documents which have been issued by a public authority in a member state and presented to a public authority in another member state. This means that a certified translation from Spanish into English carried out by a translator certified in Spain is also valid in English without an apostille and vice versa. This exemption applies only to private individuals, not companies.
The mother-tongue principle is a quality requirement
The mother-tongue principle is one of the cornerstones and a quality requirement when it comes to professional translation. The principle states that a translator must only translate into their native language. A native Spanish speaker translates into Spanish, a native English speaker translates into English, and so on. To be considered a native speaker, the translator must have grown up in and completed their education in a country where the language is the official language.
Quality-assured translation in accordance with ISO 17100
We have held quality certification since 2011, and from 2015 in accordance with the new ISO standard, ISO 17100. Being ISO certified means that we have invested money and effort into documenting and verifying all our procedures, from the requirements placed on translators and their recruitment to ensuring the quality of every translation that we produce. For example, we only use professional, full-time graduate translators who specialise in the subject area they translate in. All translations are proofread by a second translator with the same qualifications as the first translator. Compliance with the established criteria for the certification is regularly inspected by the body that certified us. As a certified translation agency for Spanish, we also provide quality assurance with the translations we produce.
Confidentiality without question
We handle lots of often highly confidential information, so it goes without saying that all assignments are treated with the strictest confidentiality.
